The Parable of the Talents
In order to experience the Parable of the Talents in their real lives, all Sunday School offerings from January 8 to February 12 will be used to buy livestock through the Heifer Project International. With gifts of livestock and training the Heifer Project helps families improve their nutrition and generate income. The animals are given as "living loans" because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of their animal's offspring to another family in need. It's called "Passing on the Gift."
We would encourage parents to discuss with their children their offerings and ways each child can use their talents and abilities to maximize their donations to The Heifer Project. One way is to ask family and friends to give their talents to help others.
Our goal for using our talents to support Heifer Project International is:
flock of chickens ($20) ducks ($20) geese ($20) rabbits ($60)
To give a total of: $120
SUNDAY SCHOOL HEIFER PROJECT UPDATE
As of January 29, the Sunday School has collected $117 for Heifer Project.
Great job everyone!!!
This means we have purchased a flock of chickens, ducks, geese, and are now working on a trio of rabbits.
Please continue to give through February 12 so we can purchase more animals to support families around the world. Keep watching the wall in the Narthex for updates, or the bulletin board downstairs.
Upcoming Dates for the Calendar
February 19 Praise Kids sing at 10:30 worship
Preschool (3 & 4 year olds) – Experience interactive learning of the 10 Commandments in their classroom in the lower level at 9:15 am and have singing time at 10:00 am with Miss Elise.
Kindergarten - Experience hands on learning of The 10 Commandments in their classroom in the lower level at 9:15 am, and have singing time at 10:00 am with Miss Elise.
1st grade to 5th grade—Learn the 10 Commandments through various interactive learning station. The classes begin with a time of offering and singing with Beth and Stephanie in the Sanctuary at 9:15 am, and then go their learning station.
Jr. & Sr. High - classes meet in their rooms at 9:15 am for thought provoking learning of the 10 Commandments, and how they still relate today, and how youth can live by them. At 10:00 am the classes meet in the Sanctuary for praise singing.

Pre -K & Kindergarten Information
- Children 3 years and older are invited to be involved in this learning experience.
- The Pre-K and Kindergarten program uses the Live Big Curriculum from Cokesbury.
- The children meet in their classrooms which are located in the lower level of the church.
- Bethany teaches using an interactive hands-on approach to Biblical learning.
- Offering is taken, and a prayer is said to thank God for all we have to give others.
- Cherub Choir - Children will learn exciting Christian praise and motion songs from 10:00 am - 10:15 am and sing in worship on a scheduled basis.
- Parents are welcome in the classroom to assist their child if needed.
Rotation Sunday School for Grades 1-5
- Grades 1-5 meet in the sanctuary at 9:15 am where the students sing, take offering, and pray.
- Students learn the Biblical message using many different stations including: computer, science, cooking, drama, storytelling, video, and crafts.
- Each grade is led by a shepherd who is able to answer questions, assist teachers, and help your child grow in faith.
- Each week, students are at a different station with their shepherd. They are learning the same scripture, just applying it in an exciting new way.
- Praise Kids - Students get to praise God by singing contemporary music in the sanctuary at 9:15 am. They also sing in worship on a scheduled basis.

Kindergarten
Sunday School meeting in Samuel Street - Rm 104 in the lower level at 9:15 am.
They are using the Live Big curriculum.
1st to 5th Grades
Gather in the sanctuary at 9:15 am to take offering, sing, and pray. Then down to rotation classrooms for learning.
Jr. High (6th- 8th grades) Jonah Ct. room 120 & 122 – Class meets in room at 9:15 am.
Sr. High (9th -12th grades) Isaiah St. Rm 114 - Class meets in room at 9:15 am. |
