·         Can I come to worship without becoming a professing member?                 Yes

·         Can I participate in church events as a non-professing member?                 Yes

·         May my child come to Sunday School?                                                                 Yes

·         May I receive Holy Communion as a non-professing member?                     Yes

   Baptized Christians from any denomination are invited.

·         May my child receive Holy Communion?                                                             Yes

   United Methodism encourages baptized children to receive Communion

   because it affirms God's grace in our lives regardless of age & intellect.

 

·         What does membership involve?

ü  You must be baptized in the Christian faith before joining the Church.

o   Do I have to be re-baptized to join The United Methodist Church?   No

ü  Confess faith in God the Father, God the Son, & God the Holy Spirit.

ü  Desire to live each day as a follower of Jesus Christ—God the Son.

ü  Promise to God and the local church to:

o   Repent of sin, reject evil, accept God's forgiveness & freedom.

o   Confess Jesus Christ as Savior, trust in his grace, serve him as Lord.

o   Remain faithful to Christ's church serving as his witness in the world.

o   Learn to understand the Bible & apply its truth to daily living.

o   Participate through prayers, attendance, giving, service, & witness.

o   Be held accountable to these promises.

ü  Fellowship with believers, spiritual growth, care & nurture, guidance &

    support, education for Biblical understanding & Christian life application.

ü  Opportunities to identify spiritual gifts & utilize them in ministry to others.

ü  Right to have voice and vote in matters of church decision-making.

ü  Privilege to serve the local church & be elected to offices beyond in the UMC.

ü  Membership in The United Methodist Church connection around the world.
